Frequently Asked Questions

?What is Swin2SR?

Swin2SR is a Transformer-based deep learning model developed at the University of Würzburg for image super-resolution and restoration. It achieves state-of-the-art results by leveraging shifted window self-attention mechanisms.

?What is the difference between 2x and 4x upscaling?

2x doubles the width and height of your image (e.g. 500x500 becomes 1000x1000). 4x quadruples them (e.g. 500x500 becomes 2000x2000). The 2x model is faster and more lightweight.

?What image formats are supported?

You can upload JPG, PNG, and WebP images. The enhanced output is always saved as a high-quality PNG.

?How long does enhancement take?

The first run downloads the AI model (~5–15 MB) which is cached for future use. After that, processing typically takes a few seconds depending on image size and your device.

?Is there a file size limit?

There is no hard limit, but very large images may take longer to process or exceed your browser's memory. For best results, use images under 2000x2000 pixels.

?Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly and the Transformers.js library. Your images never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy.

?Can I enhance multiple images at once?

Currently the tool processes one image at a time. You can reset and upload another image after each enhancement.

?Is this image enhancer free?

Yes, completely free with no watermarks, no file limits, and no registration required.
